TABLE MOUNTAIN – WORLD
HERITAGE SITE
Quietly presiding over the City
of Cape Town, Table Mountain is one of South
Africa's best-known landmarks. This breathtaking
sandstone plateau rising steeply above the Cape
Flats is a World Heritage Site, as well as a
nature reserve. The famous flat top spans
approximately 3 km, and its highest point,
Maclears Beacon, rises to 1 086 m above
sea-level. The summit can be reached by trails or
via the recently refurbished cable-car. The latter
boasts a revolving floor for panoramic viewing on
your way up. From the top you are offered
magnificent views of the most beautiful city in
the world.
THE V&A WATERFONT
CRUISE
Steeped in a romantic
history of the early days of sail when Cape Town
was the ‘tavern of the seas’, the V&A
Waterfront is the most visited attraction in Cape
Town. Contributing to its charm is the fact that
it is a busy commercial harbour which just happens
to be surrounded by a huge, authentically styled
entertainment venue with pubs, restaurants,
speciality shops, craft markets, theatres and
cinemas. A guided 25-minute cruise of the
Waterfront also brings one up close to the Cape
fur seals that abound in the harbour and live off
fish scraps from the trawlers. Here’s a photo
opportunity not to be missed!
